First Ill start with the 2.0 firmware. First off I was somewhat unhappy because it so long to release it. I can understand that apples servers were overloaded but shouldn't had apple thought millions were going to be downloading it? well anyway I finally got the firmware 2.0 installed around 11:00 central. The major reason why I think everyone upgraded was the the apps store. I can see why it is amazingly easy to fine install and use apps if your on your touch or mac. It only has a few issues that I am sure apple will address them in later updates. one is crashing on apps, Sometimes I will be in an app and my touch will crash and restart and this isn't even in 3rd party apps, this is in mail and contacts too. Second is the drain of battery life. It is drained much quicker. I can understand that when using the accelerometer that the battery is drained, but when I have my screen turned off with music playing the music is still drained much quicker than in version 1.1.4. Still apple gave us a worthy upgrade and I think it my opinion it is worth the ten dollars
Now Mobileme. I actually just signed up last night. I am a long time Gmail user and felt unstable about paying for an email service. I am actually quite happy, now if you look at what apples say push email contacts and calendar "in seconds" that isn't true, the quickest you can sync(push) is 15 minutes I am quite upset that apple has done this. All the syncing works well i can sync my mac mini with outlook with Mobileme,my pc, and my Ipod touch. There is no software to install because Itunes 7.7 comes with this, I find it weird that apple doesn't tel you they install mobileme Preferences when you install Itunes but nevertheless All you have to do is press a few buttons and its syncs.
The Mobileme web interface is really nice. It feels like a real desktop app. You have 20gb of online storage space. You can have photos and albums. Calendar has some problems but I am sure that apple is dealing with it. The Mail work just like every other mail you have you have your inbox, sent, and other folders. The web interface has to my favorite part of mobileme.
My Final thought on mobile me. Is it worth the $99 only if you will really use the push, and use email all the time or if you are a true apple fan. If not gmail is still a very good option.
